In 1990, she gained recognition for starring as Laura Palmer / Maddy Ferguson in Twin Peaks. She reprised her role in the feature film sequel Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me. She later portrayed Astrid Kirchherr in the movie Backbeat.
