Sheryl Lee Ralph is an American actress. She’s also a singer. She started her acting career in the 1970s, debuting in the film A Piece of the Action. Her first TV role was in an episode of Good Times. She got her first starring role on the small screen in the ’80s, playing Laura McCarthy in the CBS soap opera Search for Tomorrow. She later starred as Ginger St. James in the ABC sitcom It’s a Living. In the ’90s, she first starred in the film To Sleep with Anger, for which she won an Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Female. She then starred as Florence Watson in the movie Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit. From 1996-2001, she starred as Dee Mitchell in the sitcom Moesha. More recently, she starred in the sitcom Instant Mom as Maggie Turner. She currently stars as Rose in the new CBS sitcom Fam.
