Sidharth Malhotra was born on January 16, 1985 in Delhi, India. His brother is film director Punit Malhotra. He relocated to Mumbai with his family where he became interested in acting during his high school days.

He started his career as a model while he was attending college. He has been featured in ad campaigns for such brands as NIIT, Color Plus and Pantaloons. He has also walked the runway for designers like Manish Malhotra and Rohit Bal.

In 2012, he made his debut in the movie Student of the Year. The film did well in the box-office and his performance was also highly appreciated by film critics.
