Biography:
Simu Liu was born on 19 April 1989 in China. He immigrated to Canada when he was five. In his later life, he attended the University of Western Ontario where he studied business. After feeling dissatisfaction as an accountant, he explored other careers and ultimately tried acting and working as a stuntman. In 2012, he got his first gig appearing with a small role in the TV series Nikita.
He later appeared as an extra in the 2013 movie Pacific Rim. He got his first starring role on television in 2015, playing Paul in Blood and Water. After this, he gained recognition for his role as Jung Kim in the sitcom Kim’s Convenience. At the same time, he also starred in the TV show Yappie. Liu’s breakthrough role was as Shang-Chi, the lead in the 2021 movie Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
