Sophie Thompson is an English actress whose career started in the 1970s. Later in 1982, she made her film debut in The Missionary. She next played the role of Lydia in the movie Four Weddings and a Funeral. Subsequently, she played supporting roles in the films Persuasion, Emma, Dancing at Lughnasa. She went on to star as Clare Priddy in the comedy series Nelson’s Column. In the 2000s, Thompson had roles in the films Gosford Park and Nicholas Nickleby. During this period, she also became known for her role as Stella Crawford in EastEnders. In the 2010s, the actress had performances in Eat Pray Love and That Day We Sang. Also, she portrayed Mafalda Hopkirk in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1. As of 2018, she stars as Rosemary Piper in Coronation Street.
