Biography:

Born on August 27, 1978 in Middleton, Greater Manchester, England, Suranne Jones trained at the Manchester School of Acting. When she was 16, she started her professional acting career. She debuted in an episode of Coronation Street. Her breakthrough role was as Karen McDonald in the soap opera Coronation Street. She later had notable performances in more shows, including Vincent, Strictly Confidential, and Harley Street.

In the 2010s, she came to wider prominence for starring as Sergeant Rachel Bailey in the ITV police drama Scott & Bailey. At the same time, she had recurring parts in A Touch of Cloth and The Crimson Field. Jones also starred as Dr Gemma Foster in the TV drama Doctor Foster. As of 2019, she plays Anne Lister in the historical drama Gentleman Jack.
