Biography:

Tessa Thompson was born on October 3, 1983 in Los Angeles, California, United States. She majored cultural anthropology at the Santa Monica College. She got her career beginnings by performing on the stage in early 2000s. In 2005, she made her TV debut in Cold Case and soon landed the role of Jackie Cook in Veronica Mars, which she played from 2005 to 2006. Afterwards, she made her big screen debut in the thriller movie When a Stranger Calls.

Subsequently, she has appeared in the feature films Make It Happen, The Human Contract, Mississippi Damned, Exquisite Corpse, and For Colored Girls. While working in movies, she also became part of the main cast of the short-lived series Hidden Palms in 2007. She continued acting on the small screen with a recurring part in 666 Park Avenue as well as a main role in Copper. In the recent year, she has starred in the films Selma and Creed.
