Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, best known for his stage name The Weeknd, is a Canadian singer. He initially uploaded covers of songs on YouTube as “The Weeknd”. In 2011, he released the mixtapes House of Balloons, Thursday, and Echoes of Silence, which gained him notice. Later in 2013, he released his debut studio album Kiss Land with the singles “Kiss Land” and “Belong to the World”. The album also debuted at Number 2 on the US Billboard 200. His second album Beauty Behind the Madness was next released in 2015. His latest release Starboy came out the following year. The single “Earned It” won him the Grammy for Best R&B Performance. The singer has already sold over 70 million records worldwide.
