Biography:
Thomas Kretschmann was born on September 8, 1962 in Dessau, East Germany. He started acting in numerous European films and TV shows at the age of 25.
In 1993, he starred in his first feature film, Stalingrad. He then achieved international recognition for his performance in the 1996 film The Stendhal Syndrome.
Although prominent in his homeland, he did not earn Hollywood recognition until his role in the 2002 film The Pianist. He has since appeared in such movies as Resident Evil: Apocalypse, King Kong, Valkyrie, and The Young Victoria, among others.
