Tim Robbins is an American actor. His acting career started in the early 1980s. During this period he had roles in the films Hill Street Blues, Top Gun, and Erik the Viking. His career flourished in the ’90s, playing the lead in Bob Roberts, which he also wrote and directed. His role as Andy Dufresne in 1994’s The Shawshank Redemption cemented his fame. He then wrote and directed Dead Man Walking, earning him an Oscar nomination for Best Director. In the 2000s, he won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Mystic River. Other notable roles were in The Secret Life of Words, Zathura, and War of the Worlds. In the 2010s, he starred in Green Lantern, Cinema Verite, and starred as Secretary of State Walter Larson on the HBO series The Brink.
