Biography:
Tom Hanks was born on July 9, 1956 in Concord, California. He moved to New York City in 1979 where he made his film debut with the low-budget slasher film He Knows You’re Alone.
He has since starred in multiple films with notable roles in such movies as Sleepless in Seattle, Forrest Gump, Apollo 13, Saving Private Ryan, You’ve Got Mail, The Green Mile, Cast Away, and The Da Vinci Code.
He has won the Golden Globe and Academy Award for Best Actor for his roles in Philadelphia and Forrest Gump. He has also successfully embarked on writing, directing and producing with the mini-series Band of Brothers and The Pacific.
