Tyler Perry is an actor and filmmaker. He started his career writing and producing stage plays in the 1990s. Later in 2007, he developed the television series House of Payne, which aired on TBS for eight seasons. On the big screen, he’s best known for developing the character Madea. The part first appeared in the 2005 film Diary of a Mad Black Woman. He reprised the role in the comedy-drama Madea’s Family Reunion and Meet the Browns. He also reprised the part in the sequels Madea Goes to Jail, Madea’s Big Happy Family, and Madea’s Witness Protection. His additional cinematic roles include Admiral Barnett in Star Trek, the title role in Alex Cross, and Tanner Bolt in Gone Girl. He also played Baxter Stockman in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.
