Indian actress Vidya Balan has been in the acting industry since she was young. She made her acting debut on television during her late teens. During her college years she attempted to launch an acting career in film, but was not successful. Finally in 2003 she made her movie debut as the lead in the independent Bengali drama Bhalo Theko. Her first Bollywood film was Parineeta, which gained her attention. She became further known for her roles in Lage Raho Munna Bhai, Paa and Ishqiya. She won the Filmfare for Best Actress for her role in Paa. Her prominence grew in the 2010s as she starred in the films No One Killed Jessica, The Dirty Picture and Kahaani. She again won the Filmfare for Best Actress for her performances in The Dirty Picture and Kahaani.
The 38-year-old actress may not have the traditional slender physique, but she is strong and healthy with her curvaceous figure. Her fans would know that the actress transformed her figure from being heavy to her now slimmer look. She lost weight and she now works just as hard to maintain her now healthy figure. Speaking about fitness, she said: “Very important, because it makes me feel fine. I work out four to five times a week with my trainer Vilayat Hussain. I eat every two hours. I sleep for eight hours. I have lots of water. I pray to keep calm. Most importantly, I have a smile on my face.”
Her fitness regime? The actress said: “I workout at home. I don’t have a gym but I use light weights. I do calisthenics, which is basically using your own body weight, like you do in yoga, to strengthen your core. I also do a bit of cardio. I have been doing this for a year and it has shown unbelievable results.” Plus, the award-winning actress is proud of her curves, saying: “As Indian women, we have a beautiful body type. And I believe in the celebration of curves.”
