Wendi McLendon-Covey was born on October 10, 1969 in Bellflower, California, U.S.. She attended California State University, Long Beach. There, she completed a degree in Liberal Studies and Creative Writing. She began her Hollywood career in the early 2000s. Her cinematic debut was in the movie Bewitched. She next joined the main cast of Reno 911! as Deputy Clementine Johnson. This marked her debut on TV.

She reprised her role as Deputy Clementine Johnson in Reno 911!: Miami. In 2011, she played a supporting role in the box office hit Bridesmaids. Subsequently, she appeared in the films What to Expect When You’re Expecting, Date and Switch, The Single Moms Club, Blended, and Think Like a Man Too. In 2017, she starred in the films Felt and Speech & Debate. Since 2013, she also stars as Beverly Goldberg on the TV series The Goldbergs.
