Biography:
Woody Harrelson was born on July 23, 1961 in Woodrow Tracy Harrelson in Midland, Texas, U.S.. He began acting in the mid 1980s, first gaining recognition for his role in Cheers. His performance in the sitcom was critically lauded, winning an Emmy Award in the supporting actor category in 1989. On the big screen, he first became known for his role as Billy in the 1992 movie White Men Can’t Jump.
Being a high-caliber actor, he soon achieved further acclaim for his performance in the 1996 film The People vs. Larry Flynt, where he was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actor. Subsequently, he starred in The Thin Red Line, No Country for Old Men, Battle in Seattle, Seven Pounds, The Messenger, Zombieland, and 2012. Recently, he’s best known for his role as Haymitch Abernathy in The Hunger Games. In 2014, he played Martin Hart in True Detective.
