Yami Gautam started her professional acting career in the late 2000s. She debuted in the Indian television series Chand Ke Paar Chalo back in 2008. The following year, she made her cinematic debut in the Kannada film Ullasa Utsaha. Gautam later had roles in the television shows Raajkumar Aaryyan and Yeh Pyar Na Hoga Kam. In 2010, she was a contestant in the reality show Meethi Choori No 1.

Subsequently, she had roles in the Punjabi film Ek Noor and the Telugu film Nuvvila. Her breakout role was as Ashima Roy in the 2012 Hindi film Vicky Donor. For her work here, she earned several awards and nominations for Best Female Debut. Her next roles were in the Malayalam film Hero, Tamil film Gouravam, and Telugu features Yuddham and Courier Boy Kalyan.

Around the same time, she also had starring performances in the Hindi movies Total Siyapaa, Action Jackson, Badlapur, Sanam Re, and Junooniyat. She returned to Tamil cinema with her work in 2016’s Tamilselvanum Thaniyar Anjalum. More recently, Gautam landed roles in numerous Hindi films, including Kaabil, Sarkar 3, and Batti Gul Meter Chalu. Her latest performance was in 2019’s Bala.

Apart from following a healthy diet plan, the actress maintains a fit body by living an active lifestyle. As part of her regimen, she exercises diligently. Not only does she want to stay in shape, she also wants to improve her strength. To achieve this, she combines cardio, yoga, and Pilates as parts of the Yami Gautam workout routine. It is reported that the Bala star jogs every day for at least 20 minutes and this is just a warm-up. She also swears by yoga, which helps her keep a positive mind and a glowing skin.
