It was in 1999 that Zoe Saldana officially started her acting career. By 2000s, she was more prolific with several film roles. Her first movie was 2000s Center Stage where she played a ballet dancer. She next co-starred with Britney Spears in Crossroads. After more film roles in the subsequent years, her major break came in 2009 with her roles as Nyota Uhura in Star Trek and Neytiri in James Cameron’s Avatar.
Both were international hits particularly Avatar. She has since enjoyed her film success with more starring roles in the 2010s. This includes Colombiana, Out of the Furnace, and Live by Night. She reprised her role as Nyota in Star Trek into Darkness and Star Trek into Beyond. She then became known for playing Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy.
Being a mother of three and a full-fledged actress, how does Zoe Saldana ever have the time to maintain a regular fitness routine? Because seeing her slender and toned physique, it is obvious that the actress works out to sustain her healthy body. That’s why she looks so youthful even when she’s nearing her 40s. In an interview, she got candid about how she balances her working hours with getting herself to exercise. She explained:
“Between travel, meetings, and shoots, schedules are rough for me. I try to work out three times a week, but I don’t believe in getting on one machine for 30 minutes. If I do a lot of cardio, it usually just means I’ll be dragging my feet for the rest of the day. And when I’m shooting, I really don’t like to be strict with my workout, since I’m already putting in 16-hour days. So I do 20-minute intervals either at the gym or at home, where I run in place for 30 seconds, then do squats, then carry a heavy medicine ball a few times in a row until I get my heart rate up.”
